Feb. 3rd, 2006 11:12 amThis larp - high level. That larp - high level, invitation only. The other larp - high level, Nab Special Mission. This larp - high level, Sun Ju Special mission. That larp - high level, Blackwing special mission.
So, are we going to get a plot for this year at all? or is Narnia going to be the plot for the 36 hour? or are people far to obsessed with getting their swanky power up for their character that they don't actually care anymore? It seems to be : " I want this for my character. Hey, person X, can you write a larp specifically for my character to be special in, so that it's all about my character, and my character comes out on top so that my character can have this funky ability that he doesn't really need anyway.... oh, I'll be taking these characters as well, because they are my friends, but they won't be doing anything special because it's all about my character...."
Sorry if I seem overly pissed off by the general attitude at the larp club at the moment, but it's all about special missions, loads of high level games etc. We are trying to encourage the newer members to get their own kit so that they can look good in it, then we run a spate of games that they can't wear it in. What's the point of that? And for a specific case - Why does Sun Ju get a special mission? Sure, the character was played for a year, missing a number of larps, but to be perfectly honest, we've seen precious little of Gary otherwise (due to him not being near us) so why on earth should a larp be set aside for his "Special mission"? At least Nab and Blackwing turn up and provide monsterage for others.
I don't know, it just seems that everything is geared towards getting these funky powers that no-one else has, and doing all this special stuff for "my own character". Pretty soon it's going to get to the point where the party is rushed through a 36 hour they have no control over. One of the plus points of last year (or so I've been told) is that the party felt that they were part of something bigger, and we having an effect on it.
